Damian Priest currently reigns as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion on the “WWE Raw” brand, a position bolstered by the help of CM Punk. However, as with all wrestling titles, his reign is expected to eventually end. Former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. has offered his prediction on who will ultimately dethrone Priest, ruling out Drew McIntyre, the challenger at WWE Clash at the Castle.
Prinze Jr. is confident that Priest will retain his championship at Clash at the Castle, stating that WWE won’t cut Priest’s reign short after just one defense.
He suggests that for Priest’s championship to be seen as legitimate, he needs at least one successful title defense before facing his next major opponent, GUNTHER. Prinze Jr. predicts that GUNTHER will be the one to defeat Priest and take the title.
According to Prinze Jr., after Priest’s expected victory over McIntyre in Scotland, the champion will face the 2024 King of the Ring winner, GUNTHER, at WWE SummerSlam on August 3.
WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque has announced that the winners of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments will earn a title shot at SummerSlam. Prinze Jr. believes this storyline will culminate in GUNTHER unseating Priest as the World Heavyweight Champion.
Prinze Jr. expressed his admiration for GUNTHER, as well as for Priest and McIntyre, but emphasized that only one wrestler can hold the championship.
He feels GUNTHER is ready for this role, praising his wrestling abilities as enjoyable and exciting to watch. Ultimately, Prinze Jr. is confident that GUNTHER will be the next WWE World Heavyweight Champion, marking the end of Priest’s reign at SummerSlam.
