Over the past year, Dave Bautista has been actively engaged in his acting career, taking on various roles, including reprising Glossu Rabban in “Dune: Part II” and JJ in the upcoming “My Spy 2: The Eternal City.” Among his ventures is “The Killer’s Game,” an action-comedy where Bautista stars as hitman Joe Flood.

The film’s trailer, released by Lionsgate, confirms the previously disclosed plot details: Flood, diagnosed with a terminal illness, seeks to end his life through a contract put out by his nemesis Marianna, played by Pom Klementieff.

However, complications arise when Flood discovers he’s not dying, leading to a perilous struggle against a barrage of assassins alongside his girlfriend, Maize, portrayed by Sofia Boutella.

In “The Killer’s Game,” Bautista isn’t the sole wrestling star shining, as WWE’s Drew McIntyre joins the cast as Rory Mackenzie, one of the assassins hunting Flood. Though not prominently featured, McIntyre briefly appears in the trailer, exuding a menacing demeanor clad in a flannel shirt. The inclusion of wrestling talent adds another layer of intrigue to the film’s ensemble.

Moreover, the collaboration between Bautista and director J.J. Perry extends beyond “The Killer’s Game.” Perry, known for his work in action sequences, is also helming the upcoming science fiction flick “Afterburn,” marking the first of two joint projects between him and Bautista. In “Afterburn,” set in a post-solar flare Earth, Bautista portrays a former soldier turned treasure hunter on a quest for items unaffected by the catastrophic event.

With familiar faces like Pom Klementieff, who previously starred alongside Bautista in Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” series, “The Killer’s Game” promises an entertaining blend of action and comedy. The anticipation surrounding the film’s release, coupled with Bautista’s expanding repertoire and collaborations, suggests an exciting chapter in his burgeoning acting career.
