During WWE King & Queen of the Ring 2024 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque had several announcements and words of congratulations to share.
In an interview with Kayla Braxton backstage, Levesque extended his congratulations to Nia Jax, Liv Morgan, and GUNTHER for their victories at the event.
Additionally, he revealed that Drew McIntyre had been cleared to compete, leading to the most significant announcement of the night: McIntyre will challenge Damian Priest for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in his home nation of Scotland at WWE Clash at the Castle in Glasgow on June 15.
McIntyre’s absence from action before the King of the Ring tournament was a setback, replaced by eventual semi-finalist Jey Uso.
This setback followed McIntyre’s loss of the title at WrestleMania 40 due to his altercation with CM Punk. Despite winning the title from Seth Rollins earlier in the event, McIntyre’s provocation of CM Punk led to Damian Priest cashing in Money in the Bank.
At Clash at the Castle, McIntyre aims to correct this misstep with the support of his home crowd. However, he will need to surpass his previous performance at the event in 2022, where he fell short against Roman Reigns in a bid for the Universal title.
