Ikram Aliskerov needs a new opponent for UFC Vegas 93 after Andre Muniz suffered a foot fracture in training, MMA Fighting confirmed Thursday following a report by Laerte Viana.
Muniz is expected to undergo surgery for the injury.
UFC Vegas 93 is scheduled for June 15 at the UFC APEX, featuring flyweights Alex Perez and Tatsuro Taira in a five-round main event. The Muniz vs. Aliskerov fight was set to co-headline the event.
It is currently unclear if the UFC will find a replacement opponent for Aliskerov, who has secured first-round knockout victories in both of his UFC bouts against TUF Brazil winner Warlley Alves and Phil Hawes.
This news marks the fourth time Aliskerov has had a fight cancelled in the promotion.
The 31-year-old Russian was previously matched up against Paulo Costa, Nassourdine Imavov, Anthony Hernandez, and now Muniz, with all bouts falling through for various reasons.
Muniz recently returned to the win column with a split decision victory over Jun Yong Park, following consecutive stoppage losses to Brendan Allen and Paul Craig.
These losses had ended a five-fight winning streak that included victories over Uriah Hall, Eryk Anders, Ronaldo Souza, and others.
