Monstrous is a South Korean television series that is directed by Jang Kun-jae, with Yeon Sang-ho and Ryoo Yong-jae served as the writer for it. The production was handled by TVING (High School Mystery Club, Famous Singer: Hidden Track, The King of Pigs) and Studio Dragon, who is very well renowned throughout the K-Drama community for their amazing tv shows like Doom at Your Service, The Uncanny Counter, Voice 4, and Possessed. The show was a very interesting premise which is intriguing and put everyone at the edge of their seats. There are multiple characters whose story revolves around a strange event that changes their lives.
The plot of the show revolves around Jung Ki Hoon who is an archaeologist that is in search of a strange phenomenon that in terms change his life forever. He now publishes a magazine that is named Monthly Strange Story as well as runs a youtube channel which is called Monthly Strange Story. He then goes to Jinyang County so that he could do research on “Gwibul,” which was suggested by his ex-wife Lee Soo Jin. This Gwibil is something that has an evil spirit, and because of that, our protagonist will face an incredibly bizarre & fearful phenomenon. Because of that reason, Lee Soo Jin now used to decipher letters as well as symbols through the skill that picked up as an archaeologist.
On the other hand is Lee Soo Jin, who was great at her work but unfortunately, her child died, and she decided to visit Jinyang County. There she also witnesses some things that set her on a journey to search for answers. Then there are the resident of Jinyang County, the substation chief Han Seok Hee and her son Han Do Kyung, governor Kwon Jong Soo, and lastly, trouble maker Kwak Yong Joo are the many people that are involved in this phenomenon. As for the cast of Monstrous consists of Koo Kyo-hwan as Jeong Ki-hoon, Shin Hyun-been as Lee Soo-jin, Kwak Dong-Yeon as Kwak Yong-Joo, Nam Da-reum as Han Do-Kyung, Kim Ji-young as Han Seok-hee, Park Ho-san as Kwon Jong-soo, Park So-Yi as Ha-Yeong and many more.
Monstrous Season 2 Release Date
As of writing this, the show hasn’t been renewed for a second season which is very disappointing news for the fans, but there will most likely be a second season of the show because the ending for it pointed towards a second season that will continue the story forward. There is no news regarding it, but we might hear about it at the end of 2022 and will release sometime in 2023. The show will most likely release only on TVING.
