A story’s soul lies in its creator. If the original author of the work of art does not continue his work or worse, someone else does it, fans become worried. It has happened too many times, but the result is mostly the same, which has many of us skeptical. If the IP is handled by a creative person and the result is good, there is praise. Sadly that is not the case very often. And this time, the IP in question is Avatar. James Cameron, the creator of the series, has said he won’t be able to direct the sequels as he will be busy. Will James Cameron not direct Avatar 4 and 5? Just the thought of it is scary. However, we must look into the reasons for why
James Cameron is not directing Avatar 4 and 5?
Being a good director might be one of the most time-consuming jobs out there. It is such a sought-out job that if you make a name for yourself, everyone wants you for your skills. But it may not bode well when the director doesn’t have time at all. Especially if they were part of a project that had their soul poured into it. Such is the case with the 2009 director, who might be too busy to direct Avatar: the way of Waters. Will James Cameron might not Direct Avatar 4 and 5? That has been the question ever since the third avatar installment came out? But why? Cameron is known for his work ethic and as a man who gives it all. He is not someone who would give up his previous because it got boring or scary for him. Why has the director said he might not direct future installments?
“The Avatar films themselves are kind of all-consuming,” said Cameron in an interview upon the release of Avatar: The Way Of Water. “I think eventually, over time—I don’t know if that’s after three or after four—I’ll want to pass the baton to a director that I trust to take over, so I can go do some other stuff that I’m also interested in. Or maybe not. I don’t know.” This got the internet buzzing and worried, but if it is that way, it can’t be helped.
What is Avatar about?
Humans have depleted all the natural resources of the planet and are looking for a replacement. They find the planet which would help them survive for years, Pandora. Pandora has a unique mineral, unobtanium in abundance, however, the environment is toxic to humans. The story follows Jake, a former Marine who is there to fill in for his deceased twin brother. Jake’s brother was on a mission to explore Pandora and learn about the environment with the help of the Na’vi human hybrid. Now that Jake is on the board, he will be taking on that role, but what awaits him will change his life. When Jake gets to know Neytiri and the Na’vi tribe, his resolve is shaken, and he is forced to choose between his fellow humans or the Naive Na’vi.
James Cameron is the producer, writer, co-editor, and director of the movie. Avatar came out in 2009 and was the first successful 3D movie.
