The Great Outdoors Synopsis

Chet is the beloved big lug. It’s vacation time for Chet Ripley (John Candy), his wife Connie, and their two children, Buck and Ben, who live in Chicago. He has no idea when his obnoxious brother-in-law, Roman, would arrive with his wife and weird twin children. Roman enjoys making Chet look foolish, especially in front of the children, and Chet’s patience is put to the limit throughout.

Despite not being the funniest comedy, The Great Outdoors is still enjoyable and contains a few unforgettable scenes, such as John Candy devouring a massive steak and, of course, the huge bear that haunts the woods and meets an odd destiny in Chet’s hands.
