Which cast is returning?
The main cast of the show is all locked up for season 2. Lola Tung, who plays protagonist Belly, said that “excited to see how the relationships evolve and how the characters continue to grow” in the coming season. Christopher Briney, who plays the attractive Conrad Fisher, told that “I want to know what happens! I read the book, but I haven’t seen the script yet.” Gavin Casalegno, who plays Conrad’s good-guy brother Jeremiah, said, “You never know.”
When Season 2 will come out?
According to Jenny Han, season 2 production will start on June 27. We estimate a summer 2023 release date, even though filming has probably already started because it took the series a year from its announcement to its appearance on the streaming site.
What is it about?
Since the first season followed the first book, the second season will follow the sequel, It’s Not Summer Without You… with some changes.
Between the first and second novels in the book series, Jeremiah and Conrad’s mother, Susannah passes away. Hence, the second book is largely about the protagonists coming to terms with her passing. However, Susannah chooses not to treat her cancer recurrence in the book series, a choice that was changed in the streaming series.
With Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah at its center and themes of maturing and gaining independence, the second novel continues the themes of the first. Now that Conrad is in college, he is making poor use of his newfound independence. Jeremiah and Belly must therefore set things right, which is easier said than done.
Filming Location of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2
North Carolina
Co-actress Jenny Han posted on Instagram with Lola Tung that they are back on the sets for Season 2 in cousin’s beach. But cousin beach is not an actual place they are in North Carolina for season 2. The two families vacationed on the cousin’s beach in season 1, but it turned out to be that the beach does not exist. Han, the author, told that she “had a lot of beaches in [her] head” when she was writing the book.
She told that she took inspiration from Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts, and also the Hamptons in New York and Nags Head in North Carolina. Han visualizes beaches from all over the east coast while she was writing the book. The show then settled down to filmed in North Carolina. The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 1 was filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina. According to the update, season 2 is continued to be filmed in North Carolina.
