The Summer I Turned Pretty is an upcoming tv series that is based on a novel that goes by the same name whose author is named Jenny Han. It is a three-book novel series that tells the story of the characters from when they are young children to when they become adults. It has a very gripping story throughout the novel which possesses many ups and downs and its shows how the characters ultimately overcome those obstacles. The novel series has been a national bestseller and the last installment was on The New York Times Best Seller list for a very long time. The rights for the show were secured by Lionsgate in 2013 and they wanted it to be turned into this trilogy into a TV series.
The production of the show began in February of 2021 and it was also revealed that the show will have a total of eight episodes. Jenny Han served as the producer of the show alongside Gabrielle Stanton, Karen Rosenfelt, Paul Lee, Nne Ebong, and lastly Hope Hartman. The production companies that are involved with the show are Amazon Studios and Wiip Studios. As for the story, there haven’t been any details on how much will the first season of the show adapt from the books but the official synopsis has been revealed which gives us an idea of what is to come.

The show’s plot takes place during the regular summer vacation in which our protagonist goes to her family’s beach house. During this time Belly meets her old her and her two brothers named Jeremiah and Conrad. As days pass by she finds herself in a love triangle with Jeremiah and Conrad. This is an interesting plot and it gets more and more complex as the story progresses but there aren’t any details on how much of the story the first season will be covering from the novel. Hopefully, they will be faithful to the source material and won’t rush things up.

Lola Tung is Belly, who is the protagonist of the series, and Laurel as well as the younger sister of Steven. Rachel Blanchard as Susannah is the mother of Conrad and Jeremiah. Jackie Chung as Laurel who is the mother of Belly as well as Steven and she is the best friend of Susannah. Christopher Briney as Conrad is the eldest son of Susannah and Adam Fisher. He does show his true emotions to anyone and locks them away but this changes as he develops feelings for Belly. Gavin Casalegno as Jeremiah is a very good boy in the eyes of all the people and is a loving brother to Conrad.
Sean Kaufman is Steven who is the older brother of Belly. There are many more characters such as Minnie Mills as Shayla, Alfredo Narciso as Cleveland, Tom Everett Scott as Adam Fisher, David Iacono as Cam, Summer Madison as Nicole, and Rain Spencer as Taylor. These are the cast members that have been selected for the show and there will be many more as the series progress.
