The Chi” depicts a middle-class, white New York housewife working for a public relations firm hired by the Chicago Tourism Board. It’s like a show that portrays black communities the way the federal government wants you to believe they exist: free of bigotry, entrenched poverty, and crime. The phrase “the Wire” comes to mind as soon as you start viewing it. That is a big compliment.
The raw, unadulterated sense of the universe, characters, complexities, and interconnectedness. That was a fantastic show. However, by season three, the spirit has begun to wane. But nothing compares to Season 4. Abysmal. Crucial characters puf!…disappear, massive storylines fade away, melodrama is turned up to 11, and we get these little pop farts of storylines instead of (a)strong ones.
Season 4 might as well not have been made at all. It was a complete waste of time. Big idea, a big plot point in the storey, big concerns. All just…left unanswered, pushed aside in favour of ridiculous ever-revolving love drama that becomes SO SO exhausting and dull always rehashing the same old thing over and over.
