A Brief History of the Character Boba Fett
The character of Boba Fett was first introduced in a holiday special that CBS put out in 1978, and the character was introduced in the movies in 1980 as a ruthless bounty hunter hired by Darth Vader to track down Han Solo. In his second cinematic adventure, he was seemingly killed after he was thrown inside a Sarlac pit. In LEGENDS books, it was explained that he blasted the Sarlac with his Jetpack and escaped. But those books are no longer a part of the official Star Wars Cannon. So it will be interesting to see how they manage to explain the reemergence of Boba Fett. He was reintroduced in Star Wars’ world with a brief cameo in the first season of ‘The Mandalorian.’ Episode 6 of the second season, titled ‘The Tragedy,’ featured the character’s real introduction. He was seen trying to regain his armor from Din Djarin when a group of stormtroopers attacked. Robert Rodriguez directed the episode, and it featured some of the most badass action sequences of the show. The episode made Boba Fett look like an unstoppable force and made Star Wars fans realize why Han Solo looked terrified when he heard Boba Fett’s name, and finally, the episode gave substance to the legend of Boba Fett.
Initially, there were plans in place for a stand-alone Boba Fett movie. However, the plans were quickly scratched after the lackluster performance of ‘Solo-A Star Wars Story. The Sequel Trilogy under the Disney banner was not well received either, and the diminishing return of profits made it apparent that there was a Star Wars fatigue. But the resounding success of ‘The Mandalorian’ reignited the passion among Star Wars fans, and it may just be the better idea to move Boba Fett to the small screen.
