Sriya Lenka has been the talk of the global internet for a while now. With her being selected as an official member of the South Korean girl group “Blackswan,” things turned out in her favor. Now she is the first Indian to be part of a K-Pop group, and that has changed her drastically for good. It is very true that being a K-Pop idol is never a cakewalk. Sriya Lenka: How Did She Become a K-Pop Idol?
Sriya Lenka is now one of the popular faces on the entire internet. Born in the year 2003, Sriya belongs to the Rourkela district of Odisha. Having had a keen interest in the music and art industry since her childhood, Sriya has been practicing all kinds of dance forms from the age of 12. With continuous hard work, she has upgraded her dance skills to an admirable level.
From being a struggling artist, she is now one of the members of popular K-Pop girl groups. Her journey is one of the aspiring ones out, and that’s why the entire internet has its spotlight on her.
Back in the year 2020, Sriya Lenka began her journey towards the K-Pop industry. The lockdown period was in which she started with the auditions for many K-Pop groups out there. She began by copying steps from the popular music videos of other K-Pop artists like EXO and their MV titled “Grown”.

She also worked on learning the Korean language through online sources. From watching K-Dramas to learning from tutors, she did all. Among them, Korean dramas played a major role in helping her get a stronghold on the cultural aspects of Korea.
A series of auditions followed, and finally, Lanka got shortlisted for a training camp in Seoul. It took every bit of her hard work for the same, and everything paid off when she got the position, she was aspiring for five months now.
Polishing her skills again and again to a new enhanced level, Sriya was announced as a fifth member of the K-Pop girl group “Blackswan” on May 26, 2022. This title and achievement made her the first Indian to be part of a K-Pop group.

Blackswan: A Bit About the Group
The South Korean girl group is now one of the most popular rookie groups on the internet. Formed by DR Music, the group originally debuted back in the year 2011 under the name “Rania” with their debut EP “Teddy Riley, the First Expansion in Asia”. Though through the years, the group went through varieties of changes.
At present, the group renamed “Blackswan” is made up of five members i.e., Youngheun, Fatou, Judy, Gabi, and Sriya.

On July 7, 2020, the group was appointed as ambassador of Pyeongchang-gun in order to promote the country. It was also appointed as one of the goodwill ambassadors of the Pyeongchang Country, and then in the year 2021, Blackswan collaborated with the Korean Cultural Center of Belgium and began a Korean Travel Series.
The auditions for new members were announced by DR Media on Mya 10, 2021. “Close to Me,” the group’s first single album, was released on October 14, 2021. Sriya, alongside Gabi Dalcin from Brazil, was announced as new trainees on January 28, 2022, and it was also stated that only one of them will be joining as the official fifth member of the girl group.
Though later, the decision was altered. On May 26, 2022, it was announced that both the trainees will be joining the group as new members as part of the label’s Cygnus initiative.
