Pinocchio is a film that is been directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson. It is based on The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi, which is a children’s novel by an Italian author named Carlo Collodi. This film was announced by Guillermo del Toro in 2008, and he called it his passion project and was determined to make it a reality. In an interview, del Toro said that there isn’t any art form that has influenced his artwork then animation, and on top of that, he even said that there isn’t a single character in history that has the same personal connection to him as Pinocchio. It was first supposed to release in 2014, but it went into development hell with no news on the film being revealed for many years.
The film was said to have a bigger budget which will start the production, but no studio wanted to find this project. Its budget become a very big problem for the film, and it was the reason for it not being picked up by anyone. It was such disappointing news as Guillermo del Toro was a very good director who has proven his worth with the great films that have a life of their own. This project ultimately left in obscurity for years, but then the film’s rights were acquired by none other than Netflix in October of 2018. The filming for it began on 31 January 2020 in Guadalajara, Mexico, and Portland, Oregon. The screenplay for the film was written by Guillermo del Toro, Patrick McHale, Gris Grimly, and Matthew Robbins.
Pinocchio Plot
The film is set in a dark, twisted world that tells the tale of the famous Carlo Collodi fairytale. The story takes place in 1930s fascist Italy, where it revolves around a wooden puppet who came to life and now dreams of becoming a real boy. He is named Pinocchio, and unlike in the real story, he turns into a very bad boy who is always doing mischief and playing mean tricks. It is a very interesting take on this fairytale which has been told to all the children. It is similar to the Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey, which has been going viral for its new take on the beloved characters.
