Overlord is a popular anime that is based on a light novel series that is written by Kugane Maruyama and illustrated by so-bin. The novel was first released in July of 2012 and it is still going to this very day. The light novel is extremely popular as it has sold a total of 1 million copies in Japan which is pretty impressive. After such a feat a manga series was announced that started serializing in 2014 which is written by Satoshi Ōshio and illustrated by Hugin Miyama. The first season of the anime was handled by Madhouse who are known throughout the anime community for their top-tier anime quality.
It was directed by Naoyuki Itō, Yukie Sugawara served as the writer for the anime, and music was handled by Shūji Katayama. There have been been a total of 3 seasons of Overlord and two movies as well which have been received positively by the fans. After the third season ended fans of the series wanted to know when they will be getting the fourth season of the show. The good news came for the fans came in May of 2021 when the fourth season of the anime was announced alongside a film.
Overlord Plot Details
As for the plot, it is set in the year 2126 when a DMMORPG (Full-Dive Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) named YGGDRASIL was released which became extremely popular in this genre because the game gave the player a very high degree of freedom in terms of interacting with the game. Unfortunately after 12 years, the servers for the game were getting shut down. In this game, there is a guild that is led by Ainz Ooal Gown who at a certain time had 41 members that were the strongest guilds in the game. Only a few seconds left in the game’s servers shutting down Ainz decides to stay logged in until then so that he can cherish every single minute that he has left in his game.
But when the shutdown happens, Ainz finds himself still in the game as Nazarick has been transported to another reality along with many NPCs who now have their mind. Trapped in his game avatar and cut off from the real world, Ainz decides to learn what has happened in the world he knows of and at the same time explore as well as learn everything that this new world has to offer. It is a premise that sounds amazing and it is as the journey of our protagonist is amazing and thrilling. With each new enemy that he faces, the more we see how capable he is. The plot of the fourth season is still unknown but it was revealed that the film which was announced alongside the anime will be covering the Holy Kingdom Arc of the series.

Overlord Season 4 Release Date
The exact release date for the Overlord Season 4 will be unveiled but it will be arriving in July of 2022 and it could be released at the end of the month.
