Despicable Me is a film franchise that has been going on for quite some time now as the film has been positively received by fans and critics. The film series was praised for numerous reasons like its funny moment, characters, and most of all, the Minions, who are adored by all of the fans. No one can blame them, as those little minions are the embodiment of happiness. Now there is another movie on the horizon which is named Minions: The Rise of Gru, which will be serving as a sequel to Minions (2015). It is been directed by Kyle Balda, who is known for his work on Jumanji, and Toy Story 2.
As for the writers, it consists of Brian Lynch and Matthew Fogel, who will be filling that role. Furthermore, it is going to be produced by Chris Meledandri, Janet Healy, and Chris Renaud. The film is in the hands of many talented and veteran staff who have worked on amazing projects. The story details of the film as well as the cast members for it have been revealed. As for the plot, it takes place after the events of the first film in the year the 1970s.
Minions: The Rise of Gru Plot
In this film, we see 12-year-old Gru, who is living in the suburbs and is a fanboy of a group of supervillains that are called the Vicious 6. This ignites a spare young Gru that decided to become a very evil person so that one day he could join them. The Vicious 6 has a leader who is known as Knuckles, who is known as a legendary fighter. When the leader starts interviewing Gru so that he could become their newest member, it doesn’t go according to plan as things get worst and worst with each moment that passes by. Gru tells them that he was the one that stole a precious stone from them to help Kevin, Stuart, Bob, Otto, and the other Minions.
This, in terms, becomes the sole reason for these powerful villains to become his mortal enemies. Now on the run, both the Minions and Gru are guided by none other than Wild Knuckles and also many other important lessons of life that will help them in this epic journey. A very interesting premise indeed, and it will be good to see our heroes back in action once again.

The cast of the show consists of Steve Carell as Gru, Pierre Coffin as Kevin, Stuart, Bob, Otto, and the rest of the Minions, Taraji P. Henson as Belle Bottom, Michelle Yeoh as Master Chow, Jean-Claude Van Damme as Jean Clawed, Lucy Lawless as Nunchuck, Dolph Lundgren as Svengeance, Danny Trejo as Stronghold, Russell Brand as Dr. Nefario, Julie Andrews as Marlena Gru, Alan Arkin as Wild Knuckles. Furthermore, RZA has also been cast in the film for an undisclosed role.
Minions: The Rise of Gru Release Date
Minions: The Rise of Gru was first scheduled to release on 2 July 2020, but now, due to the Covid 19, its release date was ultimately pushed to 1 July 2022. Furthermore, the film will be released on NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service within four months of its release and later to Netflix for 10 months, lastly, it will be returning to Peacock for the last four months.
