Fans worldwide are looking forward to Agatha Christie’s adaptation of ‘Death On The Nile.’ The film was originally scheduled to come out on December 20th of 2019. Then it was rescheduled for October 9th of this year. But due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the release of the film has yet again been delayed. Disney has rescheduled the movie for a 2021 release. Theaters are all shut down due to the pandemic situation, and the open ones are not functioning at full capacity. Their respective studios delayed many major Blockbusters after a very underwhelming theatrical run of Christopher Nolan’s big-budget film ‘TENET.’ It has so far grossed $362 million against an estimated budget of $200 Million. Several major films such as Sony’s ‘No Time To Die,’ Marvel’s ‘Black Widow’ and ‘Eternals’ have been postponed for a later release date.
Death On The Nile: What to expect?
‘Death on the Nile’ is an adaptation of Agatha Christie’s 1937 novel. The novel was previously adapted into a feature film in 1978. It was also adapted into an episode for the 2004 television series called ‘Agatha Christie’s Poirot.’ 2021 version will be the third screen adaptation of the novel. This Kenneth Branagh directed movie is a follow up to his 2017 movie, “Murder On The Orient Express’. He has also produced the movie alongside Judy Hofflund, Simon Kinberg, Ridley Scott, Mark Gordon, Kevin J. Walsh. Michael Green has penned the screenplay. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will release the film through 20th Century Studios around the world.
Death On The Nile Release date, Returning Cast And New Additions
The film features a star-studded line up of Actors. Kenneth Branagh reprises his role as the detective ‘Hercule Poirot.’ Tom Bateman has returned as ‘Bouc.’ But the most noteworthy name among the cast members is Gal Gadot. She rose into the limelight through her appearances in ‘The Fast and Furious’ franchise. But she achieved stardom after getting cast as Princess Diana/Wonder Woman in DCEU. She first appeared as Wonder Woman in the 2016 superhero Blockbuster, ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice.’ Although the movie was a critical dud, her performance was universally praised. Her solo adventure as Wonder Woman in 2017 was the highest-grossing comic book movie featuring a female character as the lead.
The film also includes Armie Hammer as ‘Simon Doyle.’ He has appeared in Academy Award-winning films such as ‘The Social Network’ (2010) and ‘Call Me By Your Name’ (2017). Acclaimed actress Annette Benning also features as ‘Euphemia Bouc.’ She is a four Academy Award nominee. Her notable films include ‘The Grifters’ (1990), ‘American Beauty’ (1999), ‘Being Julia’ (2004), and The Kids Are All Right (2010). Most recently, she featured in ‘Captain Marvel’ (2019).
Famed comedian Russell Brand stars as ‘Dr. Windlesham’. Black Panther actress Letitia Wright stars as ‘Rosalie Otterbourne.’
The movie also features a stellar supporting cast featuring Dawn French as ‘Mrs. Bowers’. Emma Mackey as ‘Jacqueline de Bellefort.’ Sophie Okonedo as ‘Salome Otterbourne.’ Jennifer Saunders as ‘Marie Van Schuyler.’ Ann Turkel as ‘Meredith Wilson’ and Rose Leslie as ‘Louise Bourget.’ The film also features Indian sensation Ali Fazal. He has quietly built up a stellar resume for himself. He was last seen with Dame Judy Dench in the historical drama ‘Victoria And Abdul,’ directed by Stephen Fears back in 2017. The movie was nominated for two academy awards.
The film will hit the theatres on September 17th, 2021.
