Darling in the Franxx is an anime series that was released in January of 2018 and, upon its release, received mostly positive reviews from the audience as well as the critics. The anime was co-produced by Trigger and A-1 Pictures (Persona: Trinity Soul, Black Butler, Fairy Tail) and animated by Trigger and CloverWorks (Spy × Family, Ace Attorney Season 2, The Promised Neverland). It was directed by Atsushi Nishigori, while the producers were Yōsuke Toba, Mikio Uetsuki, and Eiichi Kamagata. Atsushi Nishigori and Naotaka Hayashi served as the writer for the anime. All of the team that was working on the show were very talented and renowned in the anime community.
The plot of the show is set in a dystopian future where the remaining humans have abandoned the surface. Humans are pushed to the brink of extinction by creatures known as klaxosaurs. These creatures have four types named Conrad”, “Mohorovičić”, “Gutenberg,” and “(Super) Lehmann”. To fight back against these creatures, humans have created giant robots named Franxx. These robots can be controlled by boy-girl pairs, the male is called the stamen, and the female one is called the pistil.
These pilots are artificially created, but they have a very short lifespan. A team of these pilots is given to experimental Squad 13 of Plantation 13, and amongst them, one is named Hiro, who is a former pilot that can’t synchronize with his partner because of that, both of them fail to pass the training. Hiro then sees Zero Two, who is an elite Franxx pilot that has klaxosaur blood within her, and she is called the “Partner Killer”.
Rumors have it that she killed her two partners but still, a third partner is allotted to her. At the time of the graduation ceremony, Zero Two’s partner gets killed, and Hiro volunteers to become her new partner. As for the cast members, it consists of Code:016 voiced by Ami Koshimizu, Code:002 voiced by Haruka Tomatsu, Code:056 voiced by Daiki Hamano, and many more.

The show ended with 24 episodes, and the audience loved every single bit of it. The fans of the series are still asking the question which is whether they will be getting the second season of the show. It is a valid question, but there is still no answer to this question as no details have surfaced about whether or not there will be another season of the show. There is still hope as the anime was very popular during its run time, and most likely, the production company will try their best to make another season possible.
