Hollywood live-action and animated films have a large fan base in a country like India. While they are available in a variety of languages, Hindi dubbing has provided new opportunities for Bollywood actors. Animated movies make a decent amount on the box office, and one factor that attracts the audience is the actor who dubbed them. Usually, the voice-over actors dubbed the movie in different languages, but sometimes some celebrities also do so.

Many of us think it’s absurd that some random group of individuals with a lot of time on their hands and a lot of money decide that we should be entertained with Hindi voice-overs for some of the most anticipated movies on our watch list. Yes, dubbing is a rare craft that only a few can master, but not everyone appreciates the sour flavor that half-baked dubbed movies leave behind. We’ve seen it all, from ruining the movie’s mood to turning it into a funny parody due to poor translation and Voiceover. However, some artists master the skill of dubbing and receive vital appreciation for their character. Here is the list of Bollywood Celebs who dubbed superhit animated movies.

1) Shahrukh Khan – Incredibles and The Lion King

The King Khan of Bollywood is a well-known name in the world. He has a massive fan base all over the world. In 2004, the superstar dubbed for the Hollywood film The Incredibles. Shahrukh Khan voiced the lead character of the movie “The Incredible. His son, Aryan Khan, was also dubbed for the film. After 15 years, the father-son combo has lent their voices in The Lion King. Mufasa’s character will be dubbed by SRK, and Aryan Khan dubbed Simba’s character.

2) Priyanka Chopra- The Jungle Book and Frozen 2

Priyanka Chopra voiced the character Kaa, the snake in the blockbuster hit “The Jungle Book.” Miss World, Priyanka Chopra is without a doubt one of the most well-known actors in Bollywood who is now ruling the Hollywood industry. Some of her best films include The Sky Is Pink, Mary Kom, and Dostana. Moreover, PC lends her voice to the character of Elsa for Frozen 2.

3) Kojol – Incredibles 2

The Incredibles are a family of superheroes who live ordinary lives yet don costumes to battle crime. The character of Mr. Incredible/Bob Parr was voiced by Shah Rukh Khan in the first Incredibles film, which was released in 2004 and was dubbed in Hindi. For the Hindi version of The Incredibles 2, Kajol voiced Helen Parr, aka Elastigirl. Kajol is a megastar in India who is best known for her romantic movies. The star rules the industry in the 90s and 20s. She is best known for the movies like “DDLJ”, “Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham” and “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.”

4) Irfan Khan- The Jungle Book

In the Hindi version of The Jungle Book, the legendary Star, Irfan Khan, voiced the character of Baloo, the friendly bear. Irfan Khan is a well-known actor in the world. He is known for his massive hit movies like “Life of Pie, “”Slumdog Millionaire”,  and “Paan Singh Tomar.” Sadly, we lost the actor in 2020.

5) Imran Khan-Rio 2,

In the Hindi version of the computer-animated musical comedy Rio 2, Imran Khan provided the voice for the lead macaw character Blu. In the English version, it was dubbed by Jesse Eisenberg. The film, directed by Carlos Saldanha, was a sequel to the 2011 film Rio and it was a massive hit. Imran Khan is an American former actor who is known for his Hindi movies. The actor is best known for his movies like “Mere Brother me Dulhan” and “I Hate Love Story.” As for now, the actor is away from the industry.

6) Nana Patekar- The Jungle Book

Nana Patekar, along with a slew of other Bollywood names, provided the voice of Sher Khan in Disney’s fantasy adventure film The Jungle Book. The animated movie was released in 2016. It is currently the second-highest-grossing Hollywood picture in India, with a total box office collection of Rs188 crore. Nana Patekar plays the antagonist, Shere Khan. Patekar is a well-known veteran actor who is well-known for his versatility and impressive dialogue delivery. His best performances include The 26/11 Attacks, Natsamrat, and Raajneeti.

7) Arjun Kapoor- Ice Age: Collision Course

In 2016, Arjun Kapoor lent his voice for the computer-animated comedy Ice Age: Collision Course. In India, the film directed by Mike Thurmeier grossed Rs12.50 crore. Arjun Kapoor is a well-known actor in India. He is best known for the movies like “Ishaqzaade”, “Gunday” and “Namaste England.”

8) Sonakshi Singha- Rio 2

In Rio 2, Sonakshi Sinha is dubbed for the female macaw character Jewel. The part was dubbed for in the Hollywood version by renowned actress Anne Hathaway. Sonakshi is a Bollywood actress and the daughter of popular Indian actor Shatrughan Singha. She is best known for the movies like “Dabangg”, “Rowdy Rathore” and “Son of Sardar.”

9) Om Puri- The Jungle Book

The Jungle Book is one most hit franchises, and every character has its unique voice. One of the characters, Bagheera, was dubbed the multi-talented Indian actor Om Puri. His funny voice undoubtedly match Bagheera, and he received vital appreciation for his character. Om Puri is a well-known and skilled veteran actor who has appeared in several critically praised Bollywood films. He is best known for the movies like Chachi 420, The Hundred-Foot Journey, and Gul Makai. Sadly, he passed away on January 6th, 2017.

10) Ali Asgar- Despicable Me 3

Ali Asgar, the world’s funniest’ Dadi,’ began a new chapter in his brilliant career when he provided the voices for ‘Gru’ and ‘Dru’ in the third installment of the Despicable Me trilogy.

The fact that the well-known comedian voiced both of the film’s main roles demonstrates his enormous talent. After years of entertaining the public through stand-up comedy and in his grandmother’s avatar on Kapil Sharma’s shows, fans were treated to a new side of him. The film was a commercial success in India as well, thanks in large part to our very own “Ali Asgar aka Pushpa Nani.”
