After partnering with Amazon Studios, Blumhouse Productions are targeting the Indian industry. According to recent news, Blumhouse productions are developing an Indian anthology series. Moreover, they are collaborating with Indian producer Dina Dattani (“Brahman Naman”, “The Ashram”). The unnamed series will be a seven-part project. Dina Dattani is a former media and entertainment lawyer who later pursued production. And, undoubtedly she is very good at it.
Blumhouse productions recently teamed up with Amazon Studios to produce eight thriller-horror movies. One of them, “The Lie“ came out last week on 6th October. Four movies will be out by the end of 2020. Meanwhile, the other 4 will be released later.
Recently, the ITV Studios and Jason Blum, who is widely famous for his horror-based realm are coming together. They will be producing a new show which will be an adaptation of Katie Hill’s new book, She will rise: Becoming a Warrior in the Battle for True Equality. And, “The Handmaid’s Tale” star Elizabeth Moss will be playing the role of the former congressman.
As for the Indian industry, this won’t be their (Blumhouse) first project in India. The production company has earlier enjoyed success in India with projects like “Ghoul“ in partnership with SK Global Entertainment. And, its recent collab was with Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment for the show “Betaal”.
Dattani And Blumhouse’s Take On The New Project
Blumhouse and Dattani, both expressed their thoughts on the recent collaboration.
Dattani said that developing this anthology along with Blumhouse, who has the most unique genre and style has been really exciting, and thrilling. She said that this will bring mystery and intrigue to their story which is all about Indian folk and regional festivals. She also mentioned how their team has talented and emerging directors from India who will make this collaboration truly unique.
Jeremy Gold, President of Blumhouse Productions also shared his thoughts on working on another Indian project. He said that they loved their experience of making shows like “Ghoul” and “Betaal”. And, they hope to continue the thrill and delight among the audience. He later said that they are excited to partner with Diana and the gifted storytellers of the Indian filmmaking community. Gold recently became the sole head of the company.
Blumhouse’s other thriller, “Evil Eye” is set to premiere on 13th October only on Amazon. Evil Eye will also have the essence of Indian cinema. As it is based upon Indian mythology and on the concept of reincarnation. Indian film actress and Hollywood star, Priyanka Chopra Jonas is executively producing the film. Also, the film will include an entire South Asian cast, writer, and directors.
Brief Storyline Of the Show
According to sources, all of the seven episodes will follow and explore Indian festivals. Each feature-length episode will reflect the backdrop of local Indian festivals. Also, the show is specifically made for the Indian audience.
