Right after the conclusion of the 3rd season of the anime adaptation of the extremely popular Japanese Manga series, Shingeki No Kyojin or Attack On Titan, the Anime series was confirmed for the 4th season in the fall of 2020 but although this announcement brought a sense of happiness and excitement amongst fans, it also made the fans realize all good things must come to an end. Attack On Titan Season 4 has been confirmed to be the final season and will conclude the entire anime series.
Another shocking revelation to the fans was the fact that it was also announced that Attack on Titan Season 4 will not be handled by WIT Studio, the Animation studio that has been handling all the seasons of Attack On Titan, and instead will be done by MAPPA Co., another animation studio which has a good reputation and has produced some good anime. However, due to this change, there has been a change in people involved in the major parts of the Anime production like the Director, Screenwriter, Animators and thus Season 4 will definitely be a new experience for the fans but for the Studio as well.
What Exactly Is “Attack On Titan”?
For those of you who still don’t know what Attack on Titan is you guys are definitely missing out. Attack On Titan is a Japanese Manga Series written and illustrated by Isayama Hajime, this manga was published in 2009 by Kodansha and was serialized in the monthly Bessatsu Shonen Magazine. With 31 volumes as of April 2020, Attack on Titan is still updating and is very close to being concluded. The Manga Series received its first-ever Anime adaptation in 2013 since then has had two more seasons released with the 4th one on the way.
The plot follows a young boy, Eren Jeager, who like the rest of humanity is living inside cities surrounded by enormous walls that act as protection against gigantic man-eating humanoid creatures called Titans, that have reduced humanity to a very small fraction of what they once were. Eren Jeager, our protagonist, along with his closest friends Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlot, want to know more about the world outside the walls and someday wants to join the section of the military that has permission to go outside the walls, the Survey Corps. However, everything changes when a titan even taller than the walls makes a hole in the wall allowing the titans to enter walls for the first time in 100 years.
Upon seeing the slaughter of humans by the Titans in the wake of this disaster and seeing humanity helplessly being pushed into the inner Walls, and witnesses his mother being eaten by a Titan, Eren is filled with anger and hate towards the Titans which not only solidifies his desire to be liberated from the confines of the walls but also awakens a desire to eliminate all Titans from the face of the Earth.
Where Has The Anime Reached So Far?
Season 3 of Attack On Titan ended in a spectacular fashion with the survey corps finally chasing away the Beast Titan and the Armoured Titan. Finally reaching all the way to the end of the Island and seeing the Ocean for the very first time. However, Eren Jeager still being shaken by the revelations about people existing outside of the wall and the unjust subjugation of his people. As a result, he couldn’t even celebrate finally reaching the Ocean he had longed to see with his friends, Mikasa and Armin, and simply asks whether they’ll finally be free if they kill everyone beyond the ocean. We begin to see a more mature and pained Eren than the one during the start of season 3.
