Aquaman 2 or Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is the sequel to Aquaman (2018), it will be the thirteenth film in the DC Extended Universe. The first Aquaman was received positively by the fans, and it grossed over 1 billion dollars which weren’t done by any DC movies at the time. This showed that the movie was without a doubt a success, and a sequel will be on its way. And it did as the second film was teased during DC FanDome that was a very happy moment for the fans as it was well deserved. Afterward, in February 2022, some footage of the film was unveiled alongside The Batman, Black Adam, and The Flash. Later the team that will be working on the sequel was revealed.
The film was directed by James Wan while David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick wrote the screenplay for it, and the story was pitched by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick as well as by the star of the movie Jason Momoa. Yes, that’s right, the story for the sequel was suggested by none other than Jason Momo, and it was done during the production of the first film. The plot of this film hasn’t been fully revealed, but an official synopsis has been revealed by WarnerBros. which says that an ancient power has been unleashed onto the world. It is up to our hero Aquaman who must make peace with an unlikely ally to protect Atlantis alongside the world from the destruction that will is caused by this great evil. This is all the plot that was revealed, but from this, we can piece together that the villain of this movie will be threatening the existence of the world itself.
Aquaman will have to gather allies to defeat this ancient power, but these allies will most likely be those that have previously served as villains in the first movie if we go by the synopsis. But this should be taken with a grain of salt as it is only a prediction, and as the release of the film draws near, more details on the plot most likely will get revealed alongside a trailer that will help us understand the plot.

As for the cast members, we will see Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Patrick Wilson as Orm Marius, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin, Vincent Regan as Atlan, Jani Zhao as Stingray; Indya Moore as Karshon and lastly Amber Heard as Mera. Due to recent events, Amber Heard has been under fire for what she did to Johnny Depp, and there has been a petition that was signed by over 3 million people who want her to be removed from the movie. But there hasn’t been any information regarding whether she will be cut from the movie or not.
Aquaman 2 Release Date
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be released on 17 March 2023 in the United States, and the film will be available on HBO Max 45 days after its theatrical release.
