The UFC’s upcoming Denver event, UFC on ESPN 59, has faced numerous setbacks but continues to build its fight card. One of the latest additions is a bantamweight matchup between Da’Mon Blackshear and Montel Jackson, scheduled for July 13 at Ball Arena. Although not officially announced by the promotion, sources familiar with the situation confirmed the bout to MMA Junkie.

Da’Mon Blackshear (14-6-1 MMA, 2-2-1 UFC) seeks to rebound after a unanimous decision loss to Mario Bautista at UFC 292, ending a two-fight winning streak. He has since relocated his training to Thailand’s Tiger Muay Thai.

Montel Jackson (13-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) enters the fight on a four-fight winning streak but has faced difficulties getting into the cage recently, with his last three bookings falling through due to opponent withdrawals.

The addition of Blackshear vs. Jackson adds depth to a UFC on ESPN 59 fight card that already features compelling matchups like Rose Namajunas vs. Tracy Cortez and Santiago Ponzinibbio vs. Muslim Salikhov. Other confirmed bouts include Charles Johnson vs. Joshua Van, Drew Dober vs. Jean Silva, Gabriel Bonfim vs. Ange Loosa, Mariya Agapova vs. Luana Santos, Jasmine Jasudavicius vs. Fatima Kline, Julian Erosa vs. Christian Rodriguez, Josh Fremd vs. Andre Petroski, and Cody Brundage vs. Abdul Razak Alhassan.

Despite initial setbacks, the UFC on ESPN 59 event in Denver continues to shape up as an exciting showcase of talent across various weight divisions, with Blackshear vs. Jackson adding another intriguing bout to the lineup.
