The search for Abdul Ezedi, the suspect in the south London alkali attack, has entered its sixth day, with police still tracking a trail of sightings and movements to try to apprehend him. Ezedi is alleged to have thrown a three-year-old child to the ground during a violent attack on Wednesday evening, then fled the scene in his car, which crashed into a stationary vehicle nearby, leaving 12 people, including five officers, injured.
Since the attack, Ezedi has been spotted at various locations, including Tooting, Croydon, and Streatham, and was seen boarding a train at Clapham South Tube station and later leaving King’s Cross Tube station. He was also captured on CCTV footage entering a Tesco Express shop, where he purchased a bottle of water, and police have released footage of him buying the water as well as images of him walking through the City of London area. The public has been warned to stay away from Ezedi, who is believed to be armed with a corrosive substance.
Police have carried out several search warrants and received dozens of calls about possible sightings of Ezedi, including footage of empty containers with corrosive warnings being found in a raid on an address in Newcastle, where Ezedi had previously lived. Analysis of the substance shows it is a very strong concentrated corrosive substance, either liquid sodium hydroxide or liquid sodium carbonate. The police have also launched a reward of up to £20,000 for anyone who can provide information leading to Ezedi’s arrest. The investigation is ongoing, with the police working to track down Ezedi and bring him to justice.
The mother of the children involved in the attack remains in a critical condition, and police are concerned that she may lose sight in her right eye. The entire community is on high alert, with residents being warned to be vigilant and report any sightings of Ezedi to the authorities. The police are working tirelessly to apprehend the suspect and put an end to the chaos caused by this violent and disturbing attack.
