Yuri On Ice has quite a lot of charming characters along with a lot of romance, competition, and drama!

A Brief Insight On Yuri On Ice
Yuri On Ice is a Japanese sports anime based on figure skating produced by MAPPA and directed by Sayo Yamamoto. The series premiered first on October 6, 2016, on television and has a total of 12 episodes. As a huge sports anime fan, it quickly became one of my favorites. I used to drool over it all the time! Its vivid depiction of the technical aspects of figure skating is matched with such fluid animation that anyone who watches it will surely notice the intrinsic beauty of the series. The attention to detail in everything from the correct representation of techniques to the costumes worn by each competitor really makes this a beautiful and extremely immersive experience. Coupled with the delicious plot, it is definitely on every ardent anime lover’s watch list. You can say that most of us have seen the series more than once.
The story is shown through the eyes of the protagonist Yuuri Katsuki, a Japanese figure skater who had reached national levels. His first attempt in the Grand Prix, though, showed him a crushing defeat, and Yuuri takes this failure very hard. He returns to his hometown, where he is greeted by loving friends and family. However, he finds himself still very burdened by his own emotions, which inadvertently takes a toll on his health. Yuuri had almost decided to carry on his “break” indefinitely when a viral video of his gets noticed by Victor Nikiforov.

Yuri On Ice Season 2: The Characters And Plotline
The Russian figure skating champion was Yuuri’s idol and at the height of his own career. He was considered a legend in the sport, having won numerous championships all over the world. Although very hesitant at first, Yuuri is unable to refuse the foreigner’s charms and accepts Victor as his new coach, choreographer, and friend. We are also introduced to Yuri Plisetsky, another top Russian figure skater, who has the same coach as Victor. Much younger in age and just starting in his chosen career, Yuri P. is often irate and displeased to see Victor devoting all his time to someone else instead of his junior, and he takes out his irritation on Yuuri by constantly provoking and trying to one-up him.
Many episodes in the anime are based around the competitions Yuuri participates in, and the tense situation is balanced by melodious songs and mind-boggling choreography, not to mention the budding romance between Yuuri and Victor. Many scenes acknowledge the fact that they both are falling for each other. Although they are both quite different in their personalities, their mutual love for figure skating and respect for each other brings them together from teacher and student to lovers.
Victor also has a habit of mixing his personal and professional emotions. Thankfully that is a good thing as Yuuri’s timid and reserved personality would probably not have allowed him to confess his feelings even to his own self. Towards the end of the first season, Yuuri and Victor are shown to have discreetly got matching rings. A suggestion to the fact that they have decided to get married, or at least as an acknowledgment of their relationship. This subtle and manageable approach to same-sex relationships is quite different from that generally shown in yaoi productions.

Reviews And Release Date
The anime has received much acclaim for this very reason and makes it suitable for a wide range of viewers. Notice how I said “the first season” a couple of sentences before? You might be wondering why, when there is apparently only one season. Well, this is because the storyline was always supposed to be a two-part portrayal. The second season was supposed to come out in 2019 but was delayed for reasons unknown.
So you can understand how ecstatic fans were when news of the second season or rather a special feature film called “Ice Adolescence” hit the internet around mid-September 2020. Fans anticipate it to reveal more about the relationship between Yuuri and Victor, along with the change in Yuri P’s feelings towards Yuuri K. We can also expect part of the plot to be based on the complexities in their relationship, brought on by Victor and Yuuri competing against each other. However, at this moment, there is not much information about it other than a rather dubious short trailer of the film, and alas, we will have to wait till mid-2021 or possibly, 2022.
You can see that I have listed all the necessary details about Yuri On Ice in the above article. I hope, at the moment, this will be enough to keep you thrilled and entertained for the brand new season. It will come, obviously, but when? The officials did not say anything interesting, but I sure hope that they have planned it for us. Moreover, anime is becoming more and more popular as days pass. I am a huge anime fan too!
