On Friday, the fast-food items chain announced that in mid-August it would reduce potato selections, including the Spicy Potato Soft Taco, Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes, and Tacky Potato Loaded Grillers, from the menu.
“We know some vegetarian go-to products may well be long gone, but Taco Bell’s menu stays extremely customizable,” Taco Bell claimed in a push release. “Do not overlook to lookout for the vegetarian image on menus to point out vegetarian solutions, and try to remember you can swap out any protein for beans in any menu merchandise.”
The loss of potatoes in specific sparked backlash on social media.
When questioned for even more information about Taco Bell’s ideas to fill the gap still left by potatoes, a Taco Bell representative emphasized that the chain strategies to carry on to push for much more vegetarian alternatives.

Final year, Taco Bell informed Organization Insider that the chain was staying away from faux meat solutions, instead focusing on “genuine plant-centered proteins” these types of as beans and potatoes. Even so, in February, CEO Mark King instructed Bloomberg that the chain believes “plant-based protein has a place on the menu,” and that he had a short while ago fulfilled with Impossible Foodstuff and Beyond Meat.
