Sword Art Online Season 4 : Will There Even Be a New Season?

Sword Art Online Season 4

With the conclusion of Sword Art Online Season 3, the gruesome wait for Season 4 has begun for the fans. Ever since Sword Art Online made its debut back in 2012, it has gained a huge fan following over the years. Well, if you’re one such fan, rejoice as there will be a Sword Art Online Season 4, and this will be the Final Season of the Anime Franchise. In this article, we’ll be looking at Sword Art Online Season 4 Release Schedule and other related information.

When Can We Expect Sword Art Online Season 4 To Release?

Sword Art Online: Alicization War Of The Underground has concluded, and many wonder what’s next for Kirito and his gang. According to Reki Kawahara, it has been confirmed that he will be working on another Arc, and this will be the final arc of the franchise. It has been titled “Sword Art Online: Unital Ring,” and so far, only three volumes have been released; assuming this arc too is ten volumes long, it will take Reki Kawahara about 2023 to finish it.

This means that we won’t be receiving Sword Art Online: Unital Ring on our screens till 2024 if everything is on schedule. Obviously, this means there will be a massive gap in between, similar to the one between Sword Art Online Season 2 and 3. As of now, there has been no official release date announced for “Sword Art Online: Unital Ring,” and this is merely speculation. When it comes to whether or not Season 4 has been confirmed, Manabu Ono, the Director of A-1 Pictures, has assured the fans that they will be adapting everything from the Franchise.

Sword Art Online: What To Watch In The Meantime?

While we wait for the fourth season of Sword Art Online, it has been announced that we’ll be receiving a Movie in the meantime. On the 8th of November 2020, Sword Art Online Progressive “Aria Of The Starless Night” was confirmed to release in 2021. The movie will be focusing on the Adventures of Kirito and Asuna on the lower floors of Aincrad, which weren’t shown in Sword Art Online Season 1.

Another interesting thing to note is that Reki Kawahara has already written a side story called the “Moon Cradle.” Many expect that while Season 4 is in production, we’ll be receiving OVA episodes covering this story. Also, there has been speculation that A-1 Pictures might make Sword Art Online Season 4 about the Moon Cradle. That’d mean Sword Art Online: Unital Ring will be covered in Season 5.

We could even receive Sword Art Online: Unital Ring in cours as well; that’d mean half the arc will be covered in part 1 and the remaining in part 2. This will give the author time to work on the story and the fans something to watch in the meantime instead of waiting for years.

We’ll be updating you with more information regarding Sword Art Online Season 4 as and when it comes out. In the meantime, please check out other articles on the Official Website.
