The American crime TV series ‘Queen of the South’ created by M.A.Fortin and Joshua John Miller is an adaptation from the novel ‘La Reina del Sur’ written by Arturo Perez Reverte. Currently, 4 seasons have been released and the series was renewed for its fifth season on 29th August 2019. The first episode was aired on 23rd June. 2016 on USA Network. The story revolves around Teresa whose boyfriend gets murdered. He used to be a drug dealer. Teresa ends up fleeing from Mexico, settles in Dallas, and tries to become the country’s reigning drug smuggler in order to take down the drug trafficking ring and also avenge for her boyfriend’s death. Season 4 showed Teresa taking over the El Gordo’s operation and also meeting a Russian drug lord who is also Oksana’s cousin. Javier ends up confessing and tells about his fight with the judge’s nephew. They regroup as Tony is dead and Teresa is not ready to kill Javier. The judge calls Teresa and tells her that Oksana has been kidnapped and is asking for Javier in exchange for Oksana. Season 4 ended with a car approaching them out of which James comes out severely injured. James is alive and season 5 will surely bring more interest in the plot.

In August 2019, they released a teaser on TV Promos’ official YouTube channel which shows Teresa meeting a Russian group who wants to kill her drug business. Renewal Status and Release Date:

The latest season was released on 6th June 2019 and it shook the fans showing James return. The renewal of Season 5 was announced in 2019 but the production activities have been suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic. So, we are expecting the fifth season by mid-2021. No official dates have been announced yet but the fans are eager to watch Teresa’s next step in her journey. We will update you as soon as we get any information. Till then, stay tuned.
