MS Dhoni Announces His Retirement From International Cricket
Former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni made an announced in the social media platform Instagram on his retirement from international cricket on Saturday. Fans can enjoy his performance in the upcoming IPL, which will be starting within a couple of weeks. Dhoni hasn’t played any international matches after India’s elimination from the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup. Along with Dhoni making his announcement about the retirement from the international cricket, Suresh Raina has also made an announcement about his retirement. This announcement received much response from many international cricket players, celebrities, and fans.
Sachin Tendulkar, considered as the “God of Cricket,” made his emotional statement on Twitter about Dhoni’s retirement. He said that ‘Your contribution to Indian cricket has been immense, @msdhoni. Winning the 2011 World Cup together has been the best moment of my life. He is wishing you and your family all the very best for your 2nd innings’. Dhoni has always seen as a cool captain controlling the entire team and guiding them towards victory. In his leadership, the Indian national team has reached many milestones by winning international trophies.
Former Indian captain and current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly have taken this opportunity in delivering note on Dhoni’s retirement. Ganguly known as DADA of Indian cricket said “It is the end of an era. What a player he (MS Dhoni) has been for the country & world cricket. Dhoni’s leadership qualities have been something, which will be hard to match, especially in the shorter format of the game”. Other than these many players and political leaders have expressed their heartwarming message on his retirement. Under Dhoni’s leadership, the Indian cricket team has won many trophies which included 50 over WorldCup in 2011. 20 over WorldCup in 2007 and also winning Championship trophy which held in England.
His remarkable achievement has received many awards from the Indian government. He was known for him to master planning and quickness behind the stumps. Some of the national awards received by Dhoni are Padma Bhushan in 2018, Padma Shri in 2009, and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in 2007. These awards are provided for his hard work and masterclass. He started his cricketing carrier under the Ganguly leadership, soon after the debut entry into the Indian cricket team Dhoni soon became the sensation by his high power shots, defensive style of batting, and most notably his helicopter shot is much loved by the entire cricket community. For the past few years, he has stopped playing in the international Test matches whereas he continued playing in the T20 and ODI matches. From this announcement he has made sure that he will be retiring from all international matches irrespective of the format.
The former captain MS.Dhoni has so far played 350 ODIs with various other countries. He has his highest score being 183 against Sri Lanka. Dhoni will remain as the only captain to win all major ICC trophies. Other than winning many trophies he’s known for calmness and exquisite captaincy on the field. Dhoni will be serving as captain of Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.
