In The Wake Of The Pandemic, Organizers Of One Of The Biggest Convention In The US Announced It To Be Cancelled.

Anime NYC Convention 2020 was announced to be canceled by the Organizers on Monday. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, in order to adhere to the social distancing rules and prevent the spread of the virus, it has been decided that the event will not be conducted this year, according to Peter Tatara, the Show Director of the Anime NYC. The Convention cancelation was announced on their Official Twitter Account and their Facebook account as well, where they both issued an apology while also stating their reason for coming to this decision.

This is a 3-day Anime Convention Powered by Crunchyroll, held every year in November in the Javits Centre on the Westside of Manhattan. This convention features some of the best things Japanese Pop Culture has to offer, including Art exhibits, Exclusive Screening, Extensive panels for fans to enjoy. It also features the appearance of Some of the biggest Creators in Japan. Although this convention is powered by Crunchyroll, it’s not run by them, Anime NYC is a creation of LeftField Media. It is sponsored by Kodansha, OTAQUEST, Bandai Namco, Funimation, and of the sort.

The Attendees per year for this convention have been on a steady but consistent rise, with last year having 46,000 attendees. They are welcoming fans from all 50 states and over 15 different countries, while also being equipped to accommodate all variety of fans.

What Will Happen To The Tickets Of This Year? | Anime NYC 2020

Anime NYC Convention has offered two options to its customers. Firstly, the people who bought the tickets for this year’s convention can ask for a refund by filing up a refund application available on their official Website or Secondly, do nothing and the tickets of this year will get rolled over to the next year and are applicable to the Anime NYC 2021 Convention.

All tickets that weren’t applied for a refund will automatically be rolled over to the next year’s convention after 1st December 2020, so if you have already bought the tickets and want a refund, you need to do it before 1st of December. This year’s convention was expecting over 50,000 attendees and was going to mark the 4th consecutive year that it has been held.

Another interesting announcement that the Organizers made was that they are planning on holding a digital convention before the month of November 2020 and thus are requesting the fans to bear with them a little longer.
